Kick your habit for one week

The South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (Sanca) launched a campaign to create awareness about how difficult it is to quit drugs for a lifetime.

The South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (Sanca) launched a campaign to create awareness about how difficult it is to quit drugs for a lifetime.

The challenge was for everyone, not just those with a substance abuse problem.

One of the objectives of the initiative was to help people to identify and empathise with those going through the process of recovery and provide the support and understanding they need to live a drug-free lifestyle.

People were urged to challenge themselves and their friends by giving up any habit they have developed.

The challenge was held in June.

Wedge Gardens, which is a Sanca-accredited treatment centre, will put all the money raised towards its residents’ fund, which helps fund worthwhile in-house projects that benefit its residents.

Those who took part are encouraged to share their experiences on the Wedge Gardens Facebook page or the Sanca National Facebook page.

More information can be obtained from Sanca on the toll-free number 0861 4 72622 to be automatically connected to your closest Sanca branch, or contact the Sanca national offices from Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 4pm on 011 892 3829.

You can also contact the Wedge Gardens on 011 430 0320 or 071 690 4942, email wedgegardens@randaid.co.za or visit www.wedgegardens.co.za.
