Writers ready themselves for writing competition

The event will be a lunch, with the awards ceremony following where the judges will give feedback on the entries received and present the category prizes.

The Writers 2000 annual prize giving event will take place on July 30.

The group holds an annual writing competition for members and prizes will be awarded for fiction, nonfiction, poetry and back pager.

The 2016 judges are:

  •  Fiction – author and writing trainer, Anthony Ehlers.
  •  Non-fiction – author and publisher, David Robbins of Porcupine Press.
  •  Poetry – poet and author, Judy Croome.
  •  Back pager – media personality, author, trainer and W2000 patron, Marion Scher.

Awards will also be presented to members who have achieved success in specific areas of writing.

The event will be a lunch, with the awards ceremony following where the judges will give feedback on the entries received and present the category prizes.

Members and guests are invited to attend and visitors are also welcome.

The next meeting of Writers 2000 will take place on Saturday, June 25, in the Inyoni Creek Clubhouse at the Rand Aid Complex, which is located on the corner of Wordsworth and Modderfontein roads. The meeting will start at 1.30pm for 2pm.

The guest speaker will be Isabelle Delvare, an accreditation coordinator of the Professional Editors Guild.

Her topic will be the importance of a well-edited manuscript.
