Second-hand shop in need

"The second-hand shop is a treasure box for bargain hunters."

The Little Eden second-hand shop in Edenvale is in urgent need of donations.

Some of the organisation’s income is derived from the second-hand shop’s sales, which contributes towards the R20-million needed annually.

Residents are urged to donate unwanted items that are in good condition towards the care of Little Eden residents.

“The second-hand shop is a treasure box for bargain hunters,” said Mrs Nichollette Muthige, the public relations and communications officer for Little Eden.

She said items like clothing, furniture, books, toys and much more are often available at the shop, but lately these items have become scarce and the organisation is turning to the community for support.

Little Eden currently cares for 300 children and adults with profound intellectual disabilities.

“The majority of our special residents have been abandoned and some come from indigent families who are unable to support them financially,” said Mrs Muthige.

Members of the public who wish to donate towards the shop can contact the Little Eden reception on 011 609-7246 to arrange for collection.

Items can be dropped off at Shop 3, Semcor House, at the corner of Eighth Avenue and Third Street in Edenvale, or at the Little Eden offices at 79 Wagenaar Road in Edenglen.
