Workers make grisly find

The bones were discovered by workers, who were digging holes to lay cables.

The Bedfordview SAPS sent skeletal remains to the Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management unit in Pretoria on June 10 for further testing.

The bones were discovered by workers, who were digging holes to lay cables in the Tunney industrial area on the corner of Evergreen Road and Nywerheid Street.

“Workers who found the bones believe them to be human. Once contacted, the Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management unit came to the scene where they took photographs and excavated the bones, which were placed in a forensic bag,” said the Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Mduduzi Nhlabathi.

An officer from the Bedfordview SAPS attended the scene.

“The Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management unit continued digging and the recovery of the rest of the bones on June 11. Investigations are continuing,” said W/O Nhlabathi.
