Hijackers make off with cash and goods

The men pulled their victim to the back of the car before driving off with him.

The Cleveland SAPS is investigating a case of hijacking following an incident which took place on June 9, shortly after 8pm.

“The complainant was driving home in his silver Mercedes-Benz when he was cordoned off by a white C-Class Mercedes-Benz.

“Five armed suspects exited the vehicle. One suspect was armed with a rifle while the remainder carried pistols,” said the spokesperson for the Cleveland SAPS Constable Mpho Mashakane.

The men pulled their victim to the back of the car before driving off with him.

“They left the victim and his car in Kliprivier but made off with his cellphone, jacket, wallet with R5 000 cash and a laptop bag. No injuries were reported during the incident,” said Const Mashakane.
