Remembrance ceremony for child killed in Edenvale taxi crash

Family and friends attended the ceremony.

On the morning of June 10 a remembrance ceremony was held at the corner of Twelfth Avenue and Second Street in Edenvale.

The ceremony was held in memory of a 13-year-old student who died as the result of a light motor vehicle accident.

At the ceremony the sound of heartfelt songs could be heard. Mr Petros Ngubo, a family member who was at the ceremony, said that family and friends attended the ceremony.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police blocked off Second Street, in order to stop traffic while the ceremony took place.

The accident involved a taxi which collided with another vehicle.

Mrs Linda McKenzie, chairperson for the Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF), previously stated that the taxi driver involved in the accident was breathalysed at the scene shortly after the crash.
