Reward offered after suspect’s escape

"The suspect is armed and very dangerous and members of the public are urged not to confront him but contact the investigating officer, Lieutenant Colonel G J A Serfontein."

A reward of R100 000 is on offer from the Hawks to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of Thabiso Ledwaba, also known as Kagiso Linken, who is a wanted suspect.

He escaped from the Palm Ridge High Court in March, after pointing a firearm at officers.

Ledwaba had previously given the police more than seven different names, two identity numbers and five dates of birth.

He was awaiting sentencing after he was found guilty for the murder of German luxury car dealer Uwe Gemballa, who had ties to convicted criminal and former Bedfordview resident, Radovan Krejcir.

He also faces over nine charges, ranging from murder and attempted murder to cash in transit robbery, possession of a firearm and escaping from lawful custody.

In 2010 the Edenvale SAPS confirmed that a man believed to be Uwe Gemballa was killed in a house in First Avenue in Edenvale. His body was later found in a shallow grave in Pretoria.

The suspect is armed and very dangerous and members of the public are urged not to confront him but to rather contact the investigating officer, Lieutenant Colonel G J A Serfontein on 071 481 3394. Alternatively, send an email to SerfonteinG@saps.gov.za if you have any information.
