Three robbers convicted

The three men were arrested in Yeoville on August 28, 2015, for armed robbery.

The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court sentenced three accused to 30 years imprisonment after they were found guilty of robbery.

The three men were arrested in Yeoville on August 28, 2015, for armed robbery.

“The suspects approached the victim and robbed him of his belongings. They also stabbed him three times. The police officers patrolling the area witnessed the incident and the suspects were arrested.

“They were charged with armed robbery and appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court. They were denied bail.

“Investigating officer, Detective Constable Ronald Hlengani, worked around the clock to ensure a successful prosecution and conviction was secured,” said the Yeoville SAPS spokesperson, Constable Thabo Malatjie.

The three accused were sentenced on May 25.

“Mbambo Skumbuzo (32) was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, Dube Tobias (27) was sentenced to 10 years and Ncube Clayton (27) was sentenced to 10 years,” said Const Malatjie.

He said the sentencing will serve as a deterrent to criminals.
