Thornhill Manor’s Wellness Wagon

Sister Teresa Beyers is a beloved sight in Rand Aid’s Thornhill Manor.

She putters around the streets of the retirement village in a newly acquired golf cart, which proudly sports a nameplate proclaiming it to be the ‘Wellness Wagon’.

Transferred from sister village Elphin Lodge a year ago, Sr Teresa loves her new village and its residents.

She said she is able to care for them more efficiently now, thanks to the Wellness Wagon, which allows her to move around the vast village more speedily, doing post-op, post-hospital and frail care visits in the residents’ homes.

“I also do cycle visits and it is amazing how much I am able to pick up by just popping in for a while,” she said.

The golf cart was named by resident Ms Gretha Pecararo who won an internal competition to name the new acquisition.
