The case against two suspects who were arrested at Greenstone Crescent during a crime prevention operation on Friday, April 29, is still under investigation..
This is according to the Edenvale SAPS‘ acting communications officer, Warrant Officer Jean Olckers.
The arrests also led to the recovering of a stolen BMW X5.
One of the arrested suspects was, at the time of his arrest, out on bail for charges of murder from the Tembisa SAPS Cluster.
Along with the two unlicensed firearms that were confiscated, numerous rounds of ammunition were also found. The two unlicensed firearms that were confiscated have been sent for ballistic testing to see if they are linked to other criminal activities.
The BMW X5 was hijacked in Gauteng earlier this year.
The arrested suspects face three charges each for being in possession of unlicensed firearms, unlicensed ammunition and possession of a stolen vehicle.
