Alcohol abuse can lead to various social and societal problems.
This is according to the Edenvale SAPS acting communications officer, Warrant Officer Jean Olckers.

- Babies born with foetal alcohol syndrome (FAS).
- Academic difficulties.
- Draining of financial resources.
- Emotional and relationship stress.
- Increased risk of violent or criminal behaviour.
- Increased vulnerability to victimisation.
