Four water tanks installed at Eden Haven

"We need to have constant water."

An initiative started by the board members of Eden Haven Retirement Village has resulted in four water tanks being installed at the old age home.

The tanks were installed to ensure the elderly have water even if there are water shortages or issues with the water pipes.

According to Mr Martin Moralee, a board member from Eden Haven, three of the four tanks amount to a total of 30 000 litres and these will provide the home with water for an additional 36 hours once water has stopped flowing through the pipes.

“We need to have constant water. There is a lot of concern regarding water for the elderly,” said Mr Moralee.

The mains have been redirected to the reservoir so that while the water is being used, a pump is filling up the reservoir. This ensures the water in the reservoir is always fresh and that the tanks are always full.

A similar system has also been put in place to cater for the cottages located at Eden Haven.
