Man arrested for fraud

"The suspect placed an order under a company name. Luckily the company where he was purchasing the goods from has dealt with this company before."

A man was arrested after being caught trying to buy goods using a company’s account.

The incident occurred in Longmeadow on April 13.

The Sebenza SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Sharon Mahamba-Tsotsotso, said the SAPS was called in after the company suspected the man was trying to buy the goods fraudulently under a company name.

“The suspect placed an order under a company name. Luckily the company where he was purchasing the goods from has dealt with this company before.

“When the suspect went to collect his order, he was told to wait and they called the company to confirm if they had indeed placed the order.

“The company said no order had been placed. The SAPS was called in and the suspect was arrested,” said Sgt Tsotsotso.

Sgt Tsotsotso said the suspect was charged with fraud and investigations are continuing.
