Arguing suspects get arrested

"Members of the SAPS were called in after the security guard of the company saw the two employees fighting."

Two employees were arrested for allegedly stealing 16 batteries from dump trucks and TLBs at a company in Modderfontein.

The Sebenza SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Sharon Mahamba-Tsotsotso, said copper cable estimated to be worth R18 000 was also stolen.

“Members of the SAPS were called in after the security guard of the company saw the two employees fighting.

“The security guard went to investigate what the commotion was about and was told that the other suspect did not bring in all the money after he had gone to sell the stolen goods,” said Sgt Tsotsotso.

She said the company had reported several cases of cable theft before.

The suspects were charged with theft of copper and investigations are continuing.
