UPDATE: Car guard denied bail following attack on 14-year-old Edenvale girl

A 14-year-old Edenvale school girl, who attends high school, was attacked on March 16 while on her way home.

The Edenvale SAPS confirmed that a case of sexual assault has been opened against an Edenvale car guard following an attack on a 14-year-old-girl.

Yesterday the NEWS reported that according to manager for the Edenvale City Improvement District (ECID) Mrs Linda McKenzie “an Edenvale car guard was arrested for attempted rape”.

A 14-year-old Edenvale school girl, who attends high school, was attacked on March 16 while on her way home.

She was walking to the Edenvale taxi rank on her way from extra lessons.

 

The car guard was arrested at a tavern in Primrose after information was received from the community.

Mrs McKenzie also told the NEWS that the man had previously been arrested on two similar charges.

Edenvale SAPS station commander, Colonel Eddie Trollip, confirmed that the man had a previous arrest for public violence, but the case was withdrawn.

On 31 March man appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his bail application was denied.
