Boy (10) released into mom’s custody after alleged killing

Boy killer to go under psychological tests.

A case against a 10-year-old boy who allegedly killed a 12-year-old boy was not placed on the court roll.

Hillbrow SAPS Cluster spokesperson, Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi, said the one boy killed the other on Saturday, March 26 at the corner of Berlin and Station streets in Malvern.

“The boys had a fight the previous day. That fight continued on Saturday. The 10-year-old hit the other with a steel rod on the back of the head. The child collapsed and was taken to the local fire station where he was certified dead,” W/O Munyayi said.

He said on Tuesday, March 29, that the 10-year-old was released into his mother’s care as he is a minor.

“The court applied for a financial authority to place him on the physiological criminal capacity assessment at a private clinic,” W/O Munyayi said.
