The City of Ekurhuleni commemorated Human Rights Day by reminding inmates at Boksburg Prison that they too have human rights.

The executive mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele along with the Deputy Minister of Communications Stella Ndebeni, endorsed the fundamental human right to education.

Thirty laptops and desktop computers were donated to be used as part of the skills and development training curriculum at the facility.

“Prison is not society’s waste basket but is a place of correction where one can reflect on their mistakes and leave with education and valuable skills,” said Clr Gungubele.

The Springs Art Gallery also had an inspirational day where they exhibited art pieces of intense story telling of South African history.

Pupils from Ezibeleni School, with special educational needs, also joined the celebrations on the day.
