Police denies renting out state vehicles

Residents allegedly pay police to move their purchases from shops to places.

Jeppe SAPS is investigating media reports that its officers are using the state vehicles for transport businesses.

Daily Sun reported this on its addition of Tuesday, March 8 this year.

It was reported on the national newspaper that a Jeppestown resident paid R250 to transport her new bed from a shop in Booysens to his place.

In that report some residents said this was the common occupants where police use state vehicles to move the residents belongings on fee.

Jeppe SAPS called on residents to report any illegal activities by police officers.

“An investigation is underway from the Jeppe management. We urge community members to come forward and report to the station management any misconduct that they see police officers doing,” Warrant Offiicer Richard Munyayi said.
