EMPD bylaw unit hits illegal truck stop

The area was also used as a truck repair stop with ladies of the night frequenting the area.

EMPD bylaw enforcement officers clamped down on an illegal truck stop in Isandovale.

The operation took place on Wednesday, March 16.

The illegal truck stop was rapidly growing into an illegal business area with illegal structures of hawkers selling food.

The area was also used as a truck repair stop with ladies of the night frequenting the area.

The illegal structures were demolished, fines issued to truck drivers, a caravan owner was issued with a written warning and the owner of an abandoned truck was given seven days to remove his vehicle.

All the hawkers plying their trade were given stern written warnings to not trade at the location without permission.

All the illegal activities at the location had to be halted as the place was slowly becoming an eyesore and a health hazard, as there are no ablution facilities to cater for the truck drivers, hawkers and other patrons frequenting the place.

The EMPD bylaw unit will continue to closely monitor the area to ensure that illegal activities no longer take place.
