Brig Mariemuthoo’s leave days under investigation

Clr Bloom said Brig Mariemuthoo took the leave days following his on-duty injury to a knee some time ago.

The Gauteng Community Safety MEC, Sizakele Nkosi Malobane, is investigating Jeppe SAPS station commander’s leave.

This was confirmed by her spokesperson, Mr Thapelo Moiloa.

This comes after the Democratic Alliance constituency head in Johannesburg East, Clr Jack Bloom, recently said the Jeppe SAPS commander Brigadier Govandsamy Mariemuthoo had taken 156 leave days since his appointment in February 2014.

Clr Bloom said Brig Mariemuthoo took the leave days following his on-duty injury to a knee some time ago.

The Gauteng SAPS, through its acting provincial head of corporate communications, Colonel Noxolo Kweza, said there was nothing wrong with Brig Mariemuthoo’s leave days.

On Tuesday, March 22, MEC Malobane revealed that the issue is under review as a matter of urgency.

She made the statement during the oral reply to Clr Bloom’s questions in the Gauteng Legislature.

Her spokesperson, Mr Moiloa, said the outcome of the investigation will be revealed soon.
