Burglars nabbed thanks to community tip-off

“The men were carrying a bag. There was house breaking equipment and stolen items inside the bag."

Residents helped the SAPS arrest two suspects on Roberts Avenue in Kensington on March 10, shortly before 1pm.

The Cleveland SAPS spokesperson, Constable Mpho Mashakane, said police officers were patrolling in the area when members of the community alerted them about two suspicious men walking down the street.

“The men were carrying a bag. There was house breaking equipment and stolen items inside the bag.

“They confessed that they had broken into a house on King Edward Street earlier. At the address, the owner confirmed that the items were his belongings. He informed the officers that there was a break in at his house earlier that day. The men, aged 28 and 29, were arrested,” said Const Mashakane.
