ABC club reveals transformation

All money raised was donated towards the purchase of wool for an organisation that knits blankets for babies affected by HIV.

Wellness and healthy living took centre stage at this month’s instalment of the ABC networking club meeting.

The club recently underwent a face-lift and appointed Ms Tania Sutherland as the new chairperson.

She said in order to maximise the money the club raises for charity, the club will be cutting costs.

“Catering of meals for our meetings will be planned and set out by the venue according to our attendance register,” said Ms Sutherland.

She said the club also gives opportunities to business owners to promote their work.

“At every meeting we will have display tables for which members will have to pay to display their products. We charge R100 per table and all money raised goes to our chosen charities.

During the meeting, held at Mercure Hotel in Bedfordview, beauty products were auctioned from R100. All money raised was donated towards the purchase of wool for an organisation that knits blankets for babies affected by HIV.

Ms Praenisha Ramnath gave a talk on the benefits of exercise for women.

She advised women to take 30 minutes from their day to exercise.

“This helps you to avoid the silent killer diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure,” said Ms Ramnath.

Ms Fazeela Khan spoke about the importance of body stress release.

“Take some time out and release tension and stress from your body. Invest in the wellness of your body. This is for everyone and it is also a preventative measure for other diseases,” said Ms Khan.

Ms Sutherland appealed to members to bring clothing items for a shelter that houses boys rescued from human traffickers.

“These boys were rescued with nothing but what they had on. Their shelter is so dilapidated and we need you ladies to offer a helping hand,” said Ms Sutherland.

She said the details of the next meeting would follow soon.
