The SAPS has released some tips for parents to keep their children safe.
- It is important for children to know their residential address and the telephone numbers of their parents or care givers.
- Children must be taught to stay close to their parents or care givers, especially in busy public areas such as public pools, parks, and shopping centres.
- Parents and care givers should always keep an eye on their child; never let them wander off, make sure they avoid quiet, lonely places and taking shortcuts through deserted areas.
- It is extremely important that children be wary of strangers and to say “no” when faced with an uncomfortable situation.
