Children held at gunpoint during robbery

The parents were woken up by three men who were pointing firearms at them.

A family, including three children, was held at gunpoint during a robbery at their home in Turnstone Street, Cyrildene, shortly after 3am this morning.

According to the Cleveland SAPS spokesperson, Constable Mpho Mashakane, the parents were woken up by three men who were pointing firearms at them.

“One of the men left the room and returned with the family’s three children. The men tied the family up and placed a blanket over their heads,” said Const Mashakane.

The men ransacked the house and demanded money.

“They also demanded bank cards and the pin numbers. One of the suspects left the family to go and draw money from a nearby ATM. The other two suspects remained behind to guard the family,” said Const Mashakane.

When the suspect returned from drawing the money, the men fled.

They took a tablet device, a laptop, two cellular phones and an undisclosed amount of money.
