Saheti’s Rugby Sevens was first staged 23 years ago, and was later expanded to include netball.

The seven-a-side festival has long become known as the curtain raiser of the school winter sports calendar and continues to attract schools from across Gauteng. The popular sevens format applies, with teams playing pool games, followed by bowl, plate, shield and championship sections.

The U/16 rugby finals were won by Allen Glen, and the opens were won by Queens High.

For netball, Hoërskool Kempton Park won the U/16 finals, while the opens title went to defending champions Leeuwenhof in a repeat performance of their 2015 final against Crawford.

The hosts, Saheti, were runners-up in the U/16 rugby championships, and won the shield trophy in the netball open finals.

Reddam retained the bowl trophy in the netball open finals.

An added attraction and highlight of the day was the return of Saheti old boys and girls to compete in keenly contested alumni matches.
