The City of Ekurhuleni seeks to sharpen its citizens’ writing skills through a Creative Writing Workshop.

The City of Ekurhuleni seeks to sharpen its citizens’ writing skills through a creative writing workshop.

Ekurhuleni spokesperson Mr Themba Gadebe said a total of 40 writers will be accepted into the programme.

“Those people will be tutored on writing blogs and how to package, publish and market their literary works on different platforms, including the web. Through this workshop, the City of Ekurhuleni aims to afford those who are passionate writers the opportunity to hone their skills, free of charge, so that they may be catapulted to the next level of their journey as creatives,” said Mr Gadebe.

The outcome of the project will also include the production of an anthology of 10 short stories written by the top 10 best-performing candidates.

Application forms for the creative writing workshop are available at, and must be submitted to, any of Ekurhuleni’s libraries during library operating hours.

Preference will be given to registered Ekurhuleni Library members. Membership is free to all residents of the city.
