Three arrested for robbery

Three suspects were arrested for a robbery that took place on February 21 at about 7.30am.

According to the Jeppe SAPS communications officer, W/O Richard Munyayi, the victim was walking to work in Sydney Street in Bertrams when he was approached by a black Toyota Yaris with three men in it.

The car suddenly stopped and the men got out of the car and robbed him of a cellphone and money.

“The suspects got into the car and drove off. When the complainant arrived at work, he informed his boss what had happened.

“The employer took him and got into his car and drove around looking for the Toyota Yaris. They spotted the car parked at Derby Road in Bertrams with the three suspects sitting inside.

“The employer sent one of his employees to the police station to call the police. The police went with him and, upon searching the suspects, they found the cellphone and the money they had just robbed the complainant of and arrested them. The suspects’ ages are 20, 21 and 38. They were taken to Jeppe SAPS where they were charged with common robbery and detained in police custody,” said W/O Munyayi.
