Writers 2000 calls for entries

Writers 2000 is calling for entries for its annual writing competition.

Writers 2000 is an interest group for people who have a love for writing, and welcomes community members who share this passion.

The competition is open to all members of the group. Entries close on May 31. The competition has the following categories:

Fiction – entrants can choose between two themes: ‘Making a Clean Break’ or ‘Same Old Story’. Entries must be a minimum of 1 500 and maximum of 2 000 words. Author and writing trainer Mr Anthony Ehlers will judge this category.

  •  Non-Fiction – an article of between 850 and 1 200 word on the theme of Travel. Author Mr David Robbins of Porcupine Press will be the judge.
  •  Poetry – a poem on any topic of between 35 and 50 lines. This category will be judged by poet and author, Ms Judy Croome.
  •  Back Pager – this is a humorous look at a day-to-day situation and has a word limit of 650. Media personality and author Ms Marion Scher will be the judge. Ms Scher is the patron of Writers 2000.

Entrants must be members of the group.

The group meets on the last Saturday of the month at the Inyoni Creek Clubhouse, Rand Aid Complex, corner of Wordsworth and Modderfontein roads.
