Resident fumes over sewage stench

"I have reported it to the water department at the council and have spoken to the chief engineer."

A complex manager is up in arms as council has failed to respond to his complaint.

Mr Doug Smith, the complex manager of Leisure View Village, is concerned about the well-being of residents and the staff working on the premises.

He said the sewage spill outside the complex is causing a horrible smell and is now running into the street.

“I have reported it to the water department at the council and have spoken to the chief engineer. I had received a reference number and was told that it would be attended to,” said Mr Smith.

He said 23 days later and the problem has not been attended to, even after individuals came to look at the problem.

“The staff at the village have threatened to go to union as their eating facilities are right by the problem and the smell is unbearable,” he said.

Mr Smith said he returned to council and received yet another, but different, reference number.
