Changes affecting wards in Bedfordview and Edenvale

All you need to know to cast your vote

Residents will have the opportunity on March 5 and 6 to register for the 2016 Local Government Elections at their correct voting stations.

Changes have been made to various wards by the Municipal Demarcation Board.

The following changes has thus been made:

Residents of ward 18 can register to vote at the Edenvale Community Centre (Edenvale / Edenvale Avenues south of Hendrik Potgieter Street and portion of Eastleigh), Trinity Presbyterian Church (Hurlyvale and Elma Park), Edenglen Primary (Edenglen, Isandovale, Sebenza) and the AGS Church (Illiondale, de Klerkshof, ClarensPark).

Residents of ward 19 can register to vote at Dunvegan Primary School (Dunvegan and Dowerglen (Glendower) including extensions south of Linksfield Road), Edenvale High (Dowerglen Exts 3 to 5), Edenvale Bowling Club (Marais Steyn Park, Edenvale Ridge and Edenvale Avenues north of 12 th Street), New Day Church (still referred to as Eastside Community Church by the IEC) (Edenvale Avenues north of Hendrik Potgieter and south of 12th Street) and Eastleigh Primary School (Eastleigh Ridge and Eastleigh).

Residents of Ward 20 can register at Saheti School (St Andrews, Senderwood, Bedford Park and Essexwold), Cornerstone Church (Morninghill and North Western Bedfordview), Bedfordview High School (Bedford Gardens, Malvern East), Bedfordview City Hall (Oriel and Central Bedfordview ) and Bedfordview Scout Hall (Eastern Bedfordview).

Only the Stanley Road tent temporary voting station from the current ward 21 remains.

Residents of ward 36 can register at Sunnyridge Primary School (Meadowbrook, Rietfontein, Solheim, portion of Symhurst and Meridean), Laerskool die President (portion of Symhurst, Fishers Hill, portion of Primrose West of Wannenburghoogte), Primrose Primary School (Dawnview, Primrose West), Primrose Hill Primary (Primrose Hill and Simmerfield), Wychwood Primary School (Wychwood) and Germiston High School (Summerfield, Driehoek, South Germiston Extensions, Rand Airport and Elandshaven).

Residents of ward 92 can register at J A du Plessis Hall (Highway Gardens, Buurendal, Harmelia and extensions of these suburbs), Dries Klopper Hall (Klopper Park), Sizwe Secondary School (Elandsfontein), Laerskool Oosterkruin (Sunnyrock, Gerdview North, Sunnyridge), Ithemblihle LSEN School (Gerdview South, Wannenburghoogte and Primrose East / Primrose South) and Goudrif High School (Homestead, Marlands and Woodmere).

Registration details are as follows:

Are a South African citizen;

Are at least 16 years old (you can only vote from age 18);

Have a green, bar-coded identification (ID) book; smartcard ID; or valid temporary identity certificate (TIC).

If you would like to register at your local Electoral Commission office, always call first to make an appointment, as nearer to an election electoral staff are often out of office to conduct voter education in their communities.
