American financial adviser held up, robbed at Bruma hotel

“Two men ran into the hotel with guns in their hands."

Gunmen robbed a foreign national at a hotel in Bruma on Sunday shortly after 4am.

The Cleveland SAPS spokesperson, Constable Mpho Mashakane, said three men arrived at the hotel in a silver Polo.

“Two men ran into the hotel with guns in their hands. They pointed firearms at the security officers and tied them up. The men took cash from the receptionist. They also demanded the keys to a specific room in the hotel,” said Const Mashakane.

She said the men ran to the room and knocked on the door.

“The occupant, a 67-year-old financial adviser from America, opened the door, thinking it was room service. The men pointed firearms at her and demanded cash. They took an undisclosed amount of Rands, US Dollars and credit cards. They then fled the scene,” said Const Mashakane.

The victim had booked into the hotel on Saturday, February 6, shortly after 9pm.
