‘Knitwits’ celebrate with Edenvale SPCA

Members of the public who are able to home a lonely dog or cat are urged to visit the SPCA and open their hearts to an animal in need.

The Edenvale Chapter of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela celebrated the organisation’s second birthday with the Edenvale SPCA.

14 members, or Knitwits as they are known, arrived at the SPCA with treats for the animals as well as blankets.

They also brought eats to enjoy with the staff of the SPCA.

The manager, Ms Marita Acar, gratefully received the gifts handed over by 67 Blankets local ambassador, Ms Chris Boyd.

After tea, kennel assistant Alison Strydom took the women on a tour of the premises.

They visited each kennel while Ms Strydom gave the history of the animals.

The kennels and grounds were in excellent condition and Ms Strydom said the adoption rate was good.

However, in these tough economic times, animals are constantly being rescued and need care so members of the public who are able to home a lonely dog or cat are urged to visit the SPCA and open their hearts to an animal in need.
