Busy 2016 planned for ECPF

"We aim to reduce crime together with the community, working as one."

The Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF) plans to assist with combating crime and increasing visibility within the community as part of its 2016 plans.

According to the ECPF chairperson, Mrs Linda McKenzie, the CPF will host meetings in the Edenvale areas starting the first Saturday in February.

The meetings will be held in order to increase community involvement, as well as awareness of the ECPF and its purpose.

“The ECPF will be involved in many projects in 2016.

“We will do our best to rid our community of crime and ensure a safer Edenvale for everyone,” she said.

She said the ECPF will also be working more closely with the Edenvale SAPS, especially during operations on Friday and Saturday nights.

Mrs McKenzie said members of the community are also urged to join the neighbourhood patrolling run by vice chairperson Mr Prince Mathebula and Mr Mike Bell.

“There will be training provided for those interested in joining the neighbourhood watch. We are also going to ensure that community groups like What’sApp are used to their full capacity for the use of the community to communicate.

“Residents can also make use of the Facebook page to remain updated on events and notices from the CPF and the community as a whole,” she said.

She said the ECPF’s main aim is to eradicate bribery and corruption by law enforcers and therefore encourages the community to report such incidents by contacting her or emailing stopcorruptioninedenvale@gmail.com.

“We aim to reduce crime together with the community, working as one,” she said.
