Savannah to compete in Cape Town

The total prize money amounts to R400 000.

Bedfordview’s Savannah Ireland is set to take the fifth South African International Ballet Competition (SAIBC) by storm come February.

The competition will take place from February 23 to 28 and will be hosted by the Artscape Opera House in Cape Town.

Launched in 2008, the SAIBC is Africa’s only international ballet competition.

Bboth ballet and contemporary dance dancers compete in different categories, namely Scholars, (12 to 15 years), Junior (16 to 20 years) and Seniors (21 to 28 years).

The total prize money amounts to R400 000.

The competition has attracted local dancers as well dancers from as far as South Korea, Latvia, USA, Mexico, Cuba and Europe.

The judging panel will feature judges from South Africa as well as international acts.
