Queens High 2015 matriculants excel

Queens High School’s matric pass rate increased by 6 percent.

Queens High School’s matric pass rate has increased.

In 2015, the country’s matric pass rate dropped by 2.4 percent, while Queens High School’s matric pass rate increased by 6 percent.

The school’s counsellor and educator, Ms Jacqueline Carter, said the school’s pass rate was also above that of Gauteng.

She said what the school achieved was due to the dedication of hard working staff and commitment from the matriculants.

“We have a large number of matriculants who received 79 percent for various subjects,” she said.

Ms Carter said the pack was led by Christopher Pillay, who achieved seven distinctions.

He scored 94 percent for life science and geography and 91 percent for physical science among his subjects.

Ruvimbo Mutasa scooped five distinctions, while Vuyolwethu Sakwe, Alice Letsoalo and Jackson Mzimela took four distinctions each.

Tshepo Twala, Novasha Pillay, Thando Nkayitshana and Thembalethu Ndlovu scored three distinctions each.

Ms Carter congratulated the nine top achievers.

“They worked hard and it has paid off. We are happy to know they all have a bright future ahead. We wish our 2015 matriculants a bright future,” she said.
