Avalon, St Giles to benefit from Bedford Walk For Charity

Funds raised from the event will go to Avalon and St Giles - homes for people living with disabilities.

In order to spread the festive cheer to people living with disabilities, the Bedford Centre has called on residents and its customers to participate in the Bedford Walk For Charity.

The walk will kick off at the centre on December 12 and will be 5km long.

Funds raised from the event will go to Avalon and St Giles – homes for people living with disabilities.

Avalon is a residential facility for physically disabled people. The home provides basic care giving and emotional support to its residents, as well as three meals a day.

Occupational therapy is also available for four hours per week. The residents are provided with specialised transport to hospitals, clinics and doctors appointments. These include transport to local shopping centres every Wednesday and Friday.

St Giles offers accommodation and care to 50 adults, disabled by accidents, strokes, congenital conditions and acquired degenerative illnesses.

The centre’s marketing manager, Ms Nikki Savides, urged residents to heed the call to walk for the two homes.

“Join us in spreading the festive season cheer this year with the Bedford Walk For Charity, taking place in the heart of Bedfordview. The walk will take you from the Bedford Centre, through the beautiful residential suburbs of Bedfordview and back again to enjoy the elegance of Bedford Centre itself,” said Ms Savides.

Details to enter are on the centre’s website at www.bedfordcentre.com
