A man has been arrested after attempting to fraudulently purchase two cakes in Meadowdale.
Last Wednesday, the man entered a Checkers Hyper. A security guard spotted the suspect holding two cakes.
Warrant Officer Mduduzi Nhlabathi, the spokesperson for the Bedfordview SAPS, said the man walked over to a table displaying items at a reduced price.
“The man removed a sticker from some vetkoeks and pasted it on the the cakes he was holding. He proceeded to the cashier and paid R20 for the cakes,” said W/O Nhlabathi.
The cakes were worth R114.
The man was arrested and charged with fraud.
