Krejcir sentencing postponed, house to be auctioned

Krejcir is also currently on trial for other matters, including the murder of Sam Issa, also a former Bedfordview resident.

It will be over two months before Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir is sentenced for attempted murder and kidnapping.

The Johannesburg High Court postponed the proceedings last Tuesday to February 22, 2016.

Judge Colin Lamont expressed frustration when it became obvious during the proceedings that he will have to postpone the sentencing yet again.

Mr Nardus Grové, the attorney representing Krejcir, a former Bedfordview resident, brought an application for a postponement arguing that the state had not given him the Czech fugitive’s medical records. He also argued that he had not been able to secure a senior advocate for Krejcir because police delayed releasing the money he needed to pay his legal fees and arrested the woman who had received it on his behalf.

According to Mr Grové, the R600 000 frozen by police was sent by his mother, Nadezda Krejcirova.

Tactical Response Team officers were on guard and armed when Krejcir and his fellow accused, Desai Luphondo, Siboniso Miya and Germiston organised-crime police officers Samuel Maruping, Jeff Nthoroane and Lefu Mofokeng, appeared for the proceedings.

The men were convicted on August 24.

Krejcir is also currently on trial for other matters, including the murder of Sam Issa, also a former Bedfordview resident.

Meanwhile, come November 28, Krejcir’s Kloof Road mansion will go under the hammer.

The Michael James Organization will auction the house from 10am.

Interested parties need R100 000 to be able to bid.

According to the auctioneers, the house boasts an open plan kitchen with dining room. The house also brags an enclosed patio area leading to a decked rim-flow swimming pool and sun lounging area, outside shower, jacuzzi, bird aviary as well spectacular views of Johannesburg.
