Targets and arrests in Edenvale

Domestic workers are being targeted by criminals.

According to the Edenvale SAPS‘ acting station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, domestic workers are seen as soft targets and as a result, need to be informed and aware of safety tips.

He said residents should inform domestic workers to be alert at all times.

“Everyone should know their sector vehicle numbers or their security contact details. If any person or vehicle seems suspicious, it is better to contact the police to avoid being targeted,” he said.

In addition, Lt Col Roberts said nine arrests were made last week for possession of drugs.

He said most of the arrests were made in the Edenvale CBD area, and the estimated amount of drugs came to about R10 000.

“Two of the suspects arrested were dealers and the rest were users,” he said.

He also said a suspicious vehicle was checked by the police and the suspects were arrested for possession of drugs and stolen property.

“The suspects were in possession of a vending machine and drugs. One suspect has been connected to other crimes in other areas,” he said.
