Pupil aces double Olympiad challenge

On the morning before he was to write the two-hour second round paper of the Olympiad, he wrote the third round of the 2015 Maths Olympiad, a four-hour paper.

Roger Song, a grade 12 pupil at Reddam House Bedfordview, performed with distinction at the 2015 Accounting Olympiad hosted by the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA).

Roger emerged as the winner of the provincial and national sections of the competition.

What makes his win even more astonishing is that on the morning before he was to write the two-hour second round paper of the Olympiad, he wrote the third round of the 2015 Maths Olympiad, a four-hour paper. At 2pm, Roger sat for the second and final round of the Accounting Olympiad.

Upon receiving his results, Rodger was delighted.

“I was really tired after both the Olympiads,” said Rodger.

He finished the Maths Olympiad in second place.

The school congratulated him on the achievement.
