Writers 2000 hosts renowned author

Ms Foxcroft used the sentence 'I am lying on the grass eating an apple' to offer some creative insight through the development of this rather ordinary sentence.

South African author, Ms Annica Foxcroft, hosted a workshop at the Writers 2000 meeting on September 26.

Ms Foxcroft used the sentence ‘I am lying on the grass eating an apple’ to offer some creative insight through the development of this rather ordinary sentence into something so much more, by simply giving attention to the possible various impacts on the human senses of the content.

Ms Foxcroft evoked creative and entertaining responses, while displaying her own teaching skills in the field of fiction writing.

She describes herself as a first generation South African, born in Durban during the last World War, and still in love with this country.

She is the author of the bestselling Ants in My Sugar; More Ants, and Ants in the Big Onion.

The next Writers 2000 event is a poetry workshop on October 31 from 10am to 12.30pm.

The club’s own Dr Duncan Stepto will facilitate the workshop.

The afternoon meeting starts at 1pm and Mr David Henderson will be the guest speaker. The venue for both events is the Inyoni Creek Clubhouse at the Rand Aid Complex, on the corner of Wordsworth and Modderfontein roads.
