Empowering youngsters

"Sir, I’m looking for a job and I’m willing to do any kind of a job. That statement is already saying a lot about you and it will not secure you a job, "said Mr Clarke.

“Helping people and training them in life skills is my passion.”

Mr Errol Clarke from Kensington is concerned about the rate of unemployed young people and wants to change that.

“Sir, I’m looking for a job and I’m willing to do any kind of a job. That statement is already saying a lot about you and it will not secure you a job, “said Mr Clarke.

Mr Clarke is a man who never allows a situation to determine his outcome.

Even when his wife died, he still found a way to heal and live life without her but still kept her in his heart.

“I have always had a passion to help people and that is what makes me happy – when the young people come and thank me for helping them,” said Mr Clarke.

Mr Clarke runs courses from his home, where he helps young people to understand who they are and what they are good at.

“The course is a four day course and it deals with issues that are overlooked. We look at personality profiles, work ethic and more.

“When we are done you know what you have not been doing right and what you need to do from there on,” said Mr Clarke.

After years of helping companies to empower employees, he decided to do a course for young people called ‘Empowerment for employment’.

“The course helps young people to understand that when seeking employment, you need to sell yourself.

“Many of our young people are empty because they have inherited ignorance. Parents pass on love and make sure their children go to the best schools to get education. But they never equip them with the tools of how to be successful,” said Mr Clarke.

The course tackles issues of how young people can equip themselves to succeed in life.

“If you want to be rich but were never taught how to be rich, the chances are you will fail until you understand how to get rich. You must be mentally ready and spiritually ready. Riches without education leads to failure,” said Mr Clarke.

According to Mr Clarke, many youngsters are in this situation today because not everyone was exposed to proper guidance. The proper guidance would have allowed youngsters to make the right decisions, decisions which would make them happy and able to achieve their full potential.

“Some schools cannot afford personality analysis to help the students take courses that are suitable for them,” said Mr Clarke.

Mr Clarke is currently visiting colleges and schools who invite him to conduct the course for students.

He is planning to conduct this course in Kensington and the surrounding areas.
