Kloof Road family tied up during robbery

Five suspects entered the house on foot and tied up everyone in the house before taking valuables.

The Bedfordview SAPS has confirmed it is investigating a case of house robbery following a home invasion on Kloof Road on October 8.

The Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Mduduzi Nhlabathi, said five suspects entered the house on foot and tied up everyone in the house before taking valuables.

“The men left with, among other valuables, a laptop, jewellery, cellular phones and a television,” he said.

W/O Nhlabathi said the men entered through an open sliding door.

He said the victim’s car was later recovered in Alexandra.

“The total of items taken is estimated at R200 000,” he said.

Messages of support poured in for the family from neighbours as well as residents.

One neighbour posted on social media, “My heart goes out to this family and especially the children. Please ensure that counseling is recommended.”

Another said, “My thoughts are with the family. Unfortunately they [criminals] are so brazen they come whenever, wherever.”

The chairperson for the Bedfordview Community Policing Forum (BCPF), Mr Gavin Henry, said the time of the crime was interesting to note as home invasions usually take place during the day.
