Ward councillor praises City Power
Residents were without power for more than 12 hours.
The ward 66 councillor, Clr Carlos da Rocha, has praised Johannesburg City Power for its response to this week’s power failure.
He said the power failure was the result of a cable fault.
“Suburbs, including Bertrams, Kensington, Bruma and parts of Eastgate and Meadowdale, were without power from 12-noon to about 2am. During that time, officials from City Power kept me informed and I kept the residents informed,” he said.
According to Clr Da Rocha, the problem was huge.
“They had to dig deep to reach a high voltage cable that was affected. They worked non-stop for more than 12 hours to restore power in our area. I am proud of them,” he said.
City Power’s senior communications officer, Mr Sydney Mphahlele, could not be reached for comment at the time of going to print. His phone was unanswered.
