The experience is open to everyone from all ages and promises to be a fun-filled family day affair

Schools, health clubs, individuals, organisations, businesses and friends are invited to take part in the Caxton Angels’ first Charity Mountain Bike event, hosted in conjunction with Liquor City Glen Acres and Two the Core Events.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 17, from 7am at the Central Park trails in Modderfontein.

Caxton Angels is founded by the Kempton Express and will, on a yearly basis, host a fundraising charity event. This year, the Kempton Express has media partners the Germiston City News and the Bedfordview and Edenvale News on board.

Enter online and challenge a school, gym or a business. The experience is open to everyone from all ages and promises to be a fun-filled family day affair.

The Kempies mountain bike club is challenging schools around Kempton Park to participate and is ready to take on the challenge.

All proceeds of the mountain bike challenge will go to Rare Diseases South Africa, a registered NPO and Public Benefit Organisation.

What is a rare disease?

Individually rare but collectively common, rare diseases include those of genetic origin. They are life-threatening or chronically debilitating diseases which are of such low prevalence that special, combined efforts are needed to address them.

According to the NPO, Rare Diseases South Africa, patients affected by rare diseases form a minority in our society and receive minimal assistance and attention.

The objectives of the organisation is to support and provide practical aid to individuals and families affected with rare diseases, as well as to promote medical research on rare diseases.

They also create awareness on rare diseases through providing information to individuals, families, medical professionals, schools, organisations and the general public.

There are lots of prizes to be won in all the race distances.

The 10km race will start at 7.45am at a cost of R120 to enter, the 20km starts at 7.30am at R160 and the 40km will start at 7am at R180.
