Spring fête a hit with residents

"Every year we look forward to the fête. It is a great time to get together and share."

The Arbor Village Spring Fête was held on September 19.

The event is held annually to raise funds towards upgrades of the premises.

“Every year we look forward to the fête. It is a great time to get together and share,” said Arbor Village resident, Ms Rosemary Burger.

Another resident, Ms Jessie Beyers, said the funds which are raised go towards upgrades as well as care funds for residents.

“Last year we upgraded the furniture and I am excited to see what we will be upgrading this year,” said Ms Beyers.

The Spring Fête was well-attended by community members as well as family and friends of the residents who live at the home.

Ms Connie Gordon said she contributes by selling plants with her granddaughter every year.

“We grow plants, together with the help of my granny and other residents,” said Mati Leder, the granddaughter.

She said 2015 has been the most successful year for selling their plants.

In addition ward, the 20 councillor, Clr Jill Humphreys, said the gardens are breathtaking and it was wonderful to interact with the community and local residents.

She was accompanied by Mr Lucky Dinake, who said it was impressive to see the youth coming together and supporting the elderly residents.
