SAPS launch hunt for gun-wielding Kensington robbers

Police denied language barrier in the opening of the case involving a Chinese woman.

Cleveland SAPS is investigating a case of robbery with aggravating circumstances.

This follows the robbery of a Chinese national on September 22 after 2pm.

Hillbrow SAPS Cluster communications officer, Constable Thabo Malatji said the woman was driving along Langerman Drive in Kensington when she was robbed.

“Three armed men blocked the woman who was driving an Audi. They exited the vehicle and pointed firearms at her. They robbed her and fled the scene,” Const Malatji said.

Const Malatji denied reports that the case was not opened due to a language barrier between the complainant and police officers.

“The case was opened and we are investigating it. We have footage of the incident. If the rumour was true we would not be investigating anything,” he said.
