Elandspark gets a makeover

About 30 Ford employees painted and beautified the workshop with the help of the pupils taking the subject.

The Motor Mechanic Workshop at Bedfordview’s Elandspark School was recently given a makeover.

This was part of Ford’s Global Week of Caring initiative.

About 30 Ford employees painted and beautified the workshop with the help of the pupils taking the subject.

The school’s principal, Mr Josua du Plessis, said his institution was grateful for the efforts of the car manufacturer to make a difference in the lives of pupils. He said the gesture meant a lot to the pupils and the teachers.

One of the employees present on the day said he was happy to be part of the initiative.

“At times we get caught up in our lives as a people that we don’t remember to go back and inspire those who are coming after us. Being here today represents just that for me,” he said.

A pupil, who did not want to be named, said spending the day with the company challenged him to work harder.

“One day I would like to see myself working as an engineer in the motor manufacturing industry. Rubbing shoulders with employees from one of the biggest in the field makes me want to work harder and better to achieve my goal,” said the pupil.

Elandspark School is situated along Plantation and Van der Linde roads in Bedfordview.

The school caters for pupils with special educational needs.
