The suspects were nabbed when patrolling police officers stopped to search one of the men.

Two men aged 45 and 31 were arrested last Friday for business break-in and theft.

Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, the spokesperson for the Bedfordview SAPS, said the suspects were nabbed when patrolling police officers stopped to search one of the men.

“The officers saw one of the men walking out of a business premises and he looked suspicious. They stopped and searched him. While detaining him in the police car, they saw another man running out of the same property. They gave chase and after catching him, they went with the two suspects to back to the property where they found two panel vans loaded with car batteries,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

The suspects were, at the time, allegedly still loading the loot into the vans.

Sgt Nhlabathi said the duo, one of whom is a foreign national, has been charged with business break-in and theft.
