New branch commander for detectives

The Detectives Unit of the Bedfordview SAPS has a new branch commander.

There is a new branch commander for the Detectives Unit at the Bedfordview SAPS.

Colonel Israel Mdluli, who joined the station on August 3, said he is looking forward to working with and learning from his colleagues at the station.

He has been an police officer for over 27 years and 24 of those years have been served in the Detectives Unit.

Col Mdluli was previously stationed at the Brakpan SAPS. He has also served at different stations, including the Gauteng Provincial Intelligence Unit.

He said he was more than happy to serve in Bedfordview.

“I look forward to serving the community, as well as learning new things from my colleagues in the fight against crime,” he said.

Asked what advice he would give to young members joining the service, Col Mdluli said hard work.

“The Detectives Unit has challenges such as work load, but as officers we work through such challenges. Be positive and love what you are called to do,” he said.

Col Mdluli said residents can contact him any time they need assistance.

“My door is always open and my phone is always on,” he said.

In his spare time, Col Mdluli said he watches soccer and also goes to church.

“I enjoy reading a lot of research books as well,” he said.
